What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment typically lasts 45-60 minutes. Here's what will happen:

1

Medical History Review (10-15 minutes)

We'll discuss your overall health, medical conditions, medications, allergies, and the history of your wound. This helps us understand the full picture and identify factors affecting healing.

What we'll ask about: Diabetes, circulation issues, nutrition, mobility, previous wounds, smoking, and current symptoms

2

Comprehensive Wound Assessment (15-20 minutes)

We'll carefully examine your wound, take measurements, photographs for tracking progress, and assess the surrounding skin and tissue.

We evaluate: Wound size, depth, tissue type, drainage, odor, surrounding skin condition, circulation, and sensation

3

Treatment Plan Discussion (10-15 minutes)

Based on our assessment, we'll explain what's preventing your wound from healing and create a personalized treatment plan. We'll discuss treatment options, expected timeline, and answer all your questions.

You'll learn about: Treatment approach, visit frequency, home care instructions, and what to expect during healing

4

Initial Treatment (10-15 minutes)

We'll begin treatment during your first visit—cleaning the wound, applying appropriate dressings, and starting any necessary therapies.

May include: Debridement (removing dead tissue), specialized dressings, offloading recommendations, and education

5

Schedule Follow-Up & Education (5-10 minutes)

We'll schedule your next appointment, provide written home care instructions, give you emergency contact information, and answer any final questions.

You'll receive: Care instructions, supply list, follow-up schedule, and our contact number

Questions Are Always Welcome

We encourage you to ask questions at any time during your visit. There's no such thing as a "silly" question when it comes to your health. We want you to feel comfortable and fully understand your treatment.
